Our Services

We offer both handyman services and general contracting services. While both focus on quality workmanship and attention to detail, they differ in scope, planning, and project requirements.

Understanding the difference helps ensure your project is handled the right way from the start.

Handyman Services

For small repairs, maintenance, and minor improvements

Handyman services are best suited for smaller-scale projects that do not require permits, subcontractors, or extensive planning. These jobs are typically completed by me directly and are ideal for taking care of everyday issues around your home.

Handyman services typically include:
  • Drywall repair and patching
  • Painting and touch-ups
  • Trim and finish carpentry
  • Door, hardware, and fixture replacements
  • Minor carpentry and repairs
  • General home maintenance and punch-list items

Handyman work does not involve hiring subcontractors or outside trades. Projects are handled efficiently, with clear communication and straightforward pricing.

If a project grows beyond the scope of handyman work, I’ll explain that clearly before moving forward.

General Contracting

For larger projects, renovations, and managed work

General contracting services are designed for larger or more complex projects that require additional planning, coordination, and oversight. These projects often involve trusted trade partners and licensed subcontractors, such as electricians, plumbers, or other specialists, to ensure the work is done properly and to code.

Because of the scale and complexity, general contracting projects typically involve:
  • Written contracts
  • Deposits
  • Permits (when required)
  • Project scheduling and coordination
  • Multiple phases of work
General contracting services may include:
  • Small renovations and remodels
  • Bathroom or kitchen updates
  • Structural or framing repairs
  • Decks, built-ins, and custom carpentry
  • Permit-based or multi-trade projects

With over 10 years of experience in construction, I manage these projects carefully from start to finish, keeping expectations clear and communication consistent throughout the process.

What We Don’t Do

At NJ Rojas Contracting, clear expectations are just as important as quality workmanship. To make sure we’re the right fit for your project—and to respect everyone’s time—we believe in being upfront about what we don’t offer.

This helps avoid confusion, surprises, and frustration on both sides.

We Don’t Take on Work Outside Our Scope

While we handle a wide range of handyman and general contracting projects, there are certain types of work we do not perform.

This includes:

  • Large-scale commercial construction
  • Jobs requiring specialty licenses we do not hold
  • Projects outside our experience or capacity

If a project isn’t something we can complete properly and professionally, we’ll tell you upfront.

We Don’t Cut Corners or Rush Jobs

We do not offer:

  • “Quick fixes” that compromise quality
  • Work done without proper planning
  • Solutions that won’t last

Our focus is on doing the job right the first time, even if that means recommending a different approach—or declining the work altogether.

We Don’t Work Without Clear Expectations

For larger projects, we do not begin work without:

  • A clearly defined scope
  • A written contract (for general contracting projects)
  • Required permits (when applicable)
  • Proper scheduling and coordination

This protects both you and us and ensures the project is handled professionally from start to finish.

We Don’t Provide On-Site Quotes for Free

We’re happy to help you get started, and we try to make the estimating process fair and transparent.

What this means:

  • Free ballpark estimates can often be provided via email using photos and a project description
  • Detailed, accurate quotes that we can stand behind require an on-site evaluation, which includes a minimum show-up fee

This allows us to properly assess the work, account for real conditions, and provide pricing that reflects the true scope of the project.

We Don’t Hire Subcontractors for Handyman Work

Handyman services are completed directly by us and do not involve subcontractors or outside trades.

If a project requires licensed trade partners, multiple phases of work, or coordination between trades, it will be handled as a general contracting project, not handyman work—and we’ll explain that clearly before moving forward.

We Don’t Take on Projects That Aren’t a Good Fit

If a project:

  • Falls outside our scope
  • Requires a different type of specialist
  • Doesn’t align with realistic timelines or expectations

We’ll be honest about it. Our goal is not to take every job—it’s to take the right jobs and deliver quality results.
